MLB Owners, Players in Talks to Reach New Collective Bargaining Agreement Deal Before Today’s Deadline
Major League Baseball’s deadline to reach a deal on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Players Union is today. In order for there to be a typical 162 game season, the deal will need to be reached by end of business today. If a deal is made, the traditional 4 week training camp will begin in time for the regular season to start on opening day which is currently scheduled for March 31st. If not, opening day will have to be pushed back into April. This is the league’s first lockout since the 1994 and 95 season. Preseason games were set to begin this past weekend but now if the deal is met, they’ll start on Saturday.
