Multiple Accounts of Generosity Reported Across The Carolinas During Holidays
WFXB teams up with the Maguire Law Firm to help spread kindness.
Each Wednesday WFXB teams up with Maguire Law Firm for Carolina Kindness. Help us spread kindness, do something kind today and see what happens. Then, share it with Greg and Audra: carolinakindness@wfxb.com.
WFXB dedicates each Wednesday to all the good happening around us. We’ve partnered with the Maguire Law Firm to bring you Carolina Kindness. We begin with a neighborhood coming to the rescue on Christmas Eve. Tammy posted a message on the Neighborhood App Christmas Eve that unexpectedly two kids would be joining her for the holidays and that as of that day she didn’t have anything to give them for Christmas. She posted their age and sizes. Before the sun rose on Christmas Day, neighbors had dropped off clothes, a bike, a fishing rod and reel. Tammy was overwhelmed with the fast response and reports such kindness turned a sad situation into a happy and hopeful one.
The Basic Law Enforcement program at Robeson Community College got a big gift over the holidays. A local business donated thousands of dollars of equipment to the program. The donated items help provide real life scenarios for students enrolled in the program. The donor, Ethan Hardison, felt strongly about providing the best opportunities for cadets to aid in their training.
Many have stepped up around our area in helping others during the holidays. We’ve seen numerous accounts. Our viewer Carol Dion who volunteers with Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina reports 6700 wreaths were secured for Wreaths Across America. Thanks to an extra donation by WAA, 10,000 wreaths were placed on the graves of soldiers at the National Cemetery in Florence. On National Wreaths Across America Day more than 500 truckloads of wreaths were delivered and two million volunteers helped place them on veterans headstones across the country. Even with the 10,000 wreaths, thousands were left without one. Carol says the numbers go up each year and they are always fundraising for this project. It’s a way to remember their sacrifices.. If you would like to help in the future, Carol says there’s a special going on right now for every 2 wreaths purchased through Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina, now thru Jan.14th, they will actually get 5 wreaths!
