Cases of Omicron Variant Found in 5 States

New confirmed cases of the Omicron variant are turning up throughout the United States. As of yesterday a total of 5 states including Minnesota, Colorado, New York and Hawaii have confirmed cases with the first case being reported in California on Wednesday. At least 9 cases were confirmed yesterday bringing the number of cases to 10, 5 of those are in New York where New York City Health Commissioner Dr. Dave Chokshi said the cases indicate there is community spread of the variant. Most of the confirmed cases are in people who’ve received the vaccine and who had been traveling to Southern Africa or other parts of the world were Omicron had already been identified.
