Drug Overdose Deaths Hit Grim Milestone in U.S.

A new report from the CDC says drug overdose in the US has hit a new and grim milestone.

A new report from the CDC says drug overdose in the US has hit a new and grim milestone.  Between May of 2020 and April of 2021, over 100,000 people died of overdoses, making it the deadliest year on record for America’s drug epidemic.  The CDC reports that drug deaths have nearly doubled in the past five years with synthetic opioids causing nearly two-thirds of overdoses in the latest 12-month period.  Experts say the coronavirus pandemic plays a role in the rise as well as the increased use of fentanyl.
