It swooped back into the picture!
The Shelley’s Eagle Owl hasn’t been formally identified since the 1870’s. It swooped back into the picture making its long-awaited appearance in Ghana. The species is dubbed the holy grail of giant owls in the African rainforests. The ecologist who spotted it said it was so big they thought it was an eagle at first and it was a jaw dropping moment when it perched on a low branch.
