Pfizer Covid-19 Booster Shot Available for Some Individuals
More than 2 million people have already received their third dose of the Pfizer Coronavirus vaccine. Those numbers however aren’t technically booster shots but extra doses given to people whose immune systems are compromised and may not have responded fully to the first two doses of the vaccine. The number of Americans who are eligible for a third dose of the vaccine grew last week after the FDA and CDC passed emergency use authorizations.
Those eligible include people 65 or older, those who have a medical condition that puts them at high risk of severe illness which include obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, chronic kidney disease and those who work or live in a setting where they are at high risk of exposure to Covid-19 which includes health care workers, teachers, those living in shelters or prisons and grocery store workers. According to White House Covid-19 Coordinator Jeff Zients, 20 million Americans fall into the categories.
