Extra Security Put in Place Ahead of ‘Justice 4 J6’ Rally in Washington D.C.
Security in the Nation’s Capitol has been heightened ahead of tomorrows ‘Justice 4 J6’ rally. Among the new security additions include a new fence around the Capitol building, an information-sharing alert and ramped-up airport security. The Department of Homeland Security issued a warning yesterday about the potential for violence from people involved in or opposed to ‘the Justice 4 J6’ rally and officials have taken steps to ensure there will be significant security present with additional help on standby. The D.C. National Guard will also be ready to provide assistance should it be needed.
Yesterday, Former President Trump defended the Capitol rioters as ‘people being persecuted so unfairly’ and continued his claims about the rigged presidential election that security officials have warned could lead to more violence. Yesterday, U.S. Capitol Police briefed lawmakers and the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, U.S. Capitol Police and others during a call with state and local law enforcement to discuss the situation.
