Florence Community Members Give the Gift of a Sport to Area Youth
The goal is to enrich youth with a sport that can last a lifetime. These kids got to learn tennis during a 10-week program thanks to many volunteers, organizations and donated resources.
Thanks to help from those who give of their time and resources, kids in Florence got a chance to explore a sport this summer and learn from a coach. The Wilson High School tennis coach was just one of the volunteers. Kids from the Boys and Girls Club and Girl University got to be part of a 10-week program where they learned the basics of tennis, the rules and etiquette of the game. The goal is to enrich young people with a sport that can last a lifetime. They are given opportunities that otherwise would not be possible without people and resources such as the Ron James Youth, the Dr. Eddie Floyd Tennis Center, and the Florence Tennis Association.
