Florence Native Writes Book to Help Children with Grief
The loss Deandra Ketter experienced as a child prompted her to write a book to help other children.
The pain Deandra Ketter experienced as a child prompted her to write a book to help other children. When Deandra was 5-years-old she lost her sister Latoya in an automobile accident, during a time when her parents were also going through a divorce. Fifteen years later, she has written a children’s book in hopes of giving a voice to kids who may also be experiencing grief. Deandra hopes it can help children find their voice so they are able to get help from adults. “The Time I Spent With You,” is available on amazon. Deandra is a Wilson High School graduate in Florence, SC, attended Lander and Capella universities, worked as an adoption specialist for twelve years, and help found a women’s shelter. When Audra read her story on scnow.com, she reached out to Deandra to bring her story to our Pay it Forward segment.
