President Biden Set To Speak With Russian President Vladimir Putin Regarding Recent Cyberattacks
According to the White House, President Biden will be addressing the recent cyberattacks with Russian President Vladimir Putin when they meet this month. Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the administration won’t be taking any options off of the table when asked about the recent attack on JBS. Investigators believe the ransomware attack was carried out by a Russian-based cyber criminal organization which was also believed to be behind the Colonial Gas Pipeline shutdown last month. Psaki said that President Biden thinks Putin and the Russian government could stop the attacks if they wanted to.
The cyberattack on JBS USA, one of the major beef and pork producers in the country, prompted shutdowns at plants in both North America and Australia and it could lead to meat shortages and rising prices. The majority of the companies food plants opened back up yesterday. The U.S. Department of Agriculture reached out to other meat processors across the country encouraging them to accommodate the additional capacity and ‘help keep the supply chain moving.’
