There’s a lot going on this holiday weekend. If you’re going to be out and about, here are some local events.
Pay tribute to your furbaby by visiting Paint and Unwined. They’re hosting a paint your pet night! From 6 to 9 pm tonight, the instructor will guide you through step by step to create your own canvas masterpiece to take home at the end of the night. The class is for those aged 12 and up, it costs 50 dollars and you should plan to bring a clear picture of your pet. You can bring your own snacks and drinks as well. To secure a spot, visit PaintandUnwined.com.
You can also attend the memorial day golf cart parade in Surfside Beach. That’s on Sunday along Ocean Boulevard. Participants will line up on 16th avenue and the event begins at 2 pm. No registration required, so if you want to join in you should decorate your cart in a patriotic style! Contact Debbie Ellis for more information (843.640.9548 or dellis@surfsidebeach.org).
Another patriotic event taking place is right here in the Market Common. Come on out to Farrow Parkway on Saturday a Military Appreciation Day Parade will be going on and following that will be a free family picnic held in Valor Memorial Garden. That will feature live entertainment, exhibits, and different displays. The event features a Grand Marshal and an Honorary Grand Marshal. Make sure you’re decked out in red, white, and blue!
For those who like to run, the 8th Annual Brookgreen Gardens Memorial Day 5k will be held on Sunday. It’s a nighttime race that begins at 6 pm. Registration is available online and you’ll receive a finisher medal as well as one free entry ticket to Brookgreen Gardens to use in the future. Post race snacks will also be provided.
