Record-Setting Cargo Ship Passing Through Charleston This Week

A record-setting cargo ship is heading to Charleston on Friday. The ‘Marco Polo’ is the largest ship to ever sail on the East Coast and Canada. It can carry more than 16,000 20-foot-long containers and is approximately 175 feet wide and 1,300 feet long. It arrived at the Port of Halifax in Canada on May 17th from South Asia, made a stop in New  Jersey, passed the Statue of Liberty and arrived in Virginia on May 22nd, now it’s heading to Savannah and will pass by on the 26th then reach Charleston on the morning of the 28th.
