National Park Officials Seeking Comment on Moving, Repairing Lighthouse in the Outer Banks.
National Park Officials are determining how to repair and whether or not to move a lighthouse in the Outer Banks. The lighthouse on Ocracoke Island is the second oldest working lighthouse in the nation and was damaged several times recently by hurricanes. The park service is seeking comment on a range of topics including whether or not to repair the structure as is, elevate and repair it or even relocate it. Currently it sits only 2 feet above sea level.
