Biden, Senators Calling for Ceasefire in the Middle East
On Saturday President Biden spoke with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the conflict between Palestine and Israel. It was unclear whether or not the conversation happened before or after an Israeli airstrike destroyed a 12 story building in Gaza that housed the offices of the Associated Press, Al Jazeera and other media outlets. During the conversation Netanyahu said that Israel does ‘all it can’ to avoid hitting innocent people during their attacks.
President Biden also spoke with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday and reportedly stressed the need to stop firing rockets into Israel according to the White House. Biden also voiced his commitment to a solution to the conflict. Along with Biden, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, members of the House, over 25 Democratic U.S. Senators and 2 independent Senators are also calling for an immediate ceasefire.
