Local Group Makes Quilts for Veterans
Catch Greg and Audra weekdays at 9 a.m. on Carolina AM
Carolina AM brings stories of good in our world each Wednesday. A local knitting group has made it their mission to give back. The Stranded Smockers and Stitchers is the Grand Strand chapter of the Smocking Arts Guild of America and promotes the art through activities that give back to their community. Each year they select a project to work on. They have made bags that attach to medical walkers, other times they made bibs, and more recently they have been working on quilts for service members. They dedicate their time and talents into creating quilts for the Quilts of Valor, an organization that aims to “cover” veterans touched by war. Hundreds of hours goes into one quilt.
