Julian Edelman Announces His Retirement From The NFL
34 year old Julian Edelman has announced his retirement from the NFL after a 12 year career with the New England Patriots. Edelman helped the team win three championships and was the MVP of Superbowl 53. He announced his retirement in a video posted to his social media accounts yesterday. The NFL transaction wire released yesterday stated the Edelman had his contract terminated by the Patriots but ESPN reported the roster move as a technicality as part of his retirement. He said “It was a hard decision, but the right decision for me and my family”. He was limited to 6 games last season because of a knee injury. The wide receiver ranks second in NFL history with 118 postseason receptions behind Jerry Rice. He is second place on the all-time Patriots chart for receptions with 620, and fourth on the team’s career receiving yards list with 6,822.
