Dogs Outrank Cats in Popularity

Saturday was National Pet Day. Hopefully you showed them some extra love! A survey about the holiday revealed the the most popular pet in the U.S. was the dog. Forty-five percent of people who own a pet have a dog. Cats are second. The remainder of the most popular are: fish, birds, hamsters or gerbils, horses, snakes, guinea pigs, lizards and tarantulas. One percent of people who own a pet, have a pet tarantula. Ten percent of Americans say their pet is their best friend, and more admit that they specifically make time to hang out with their pets. Some like to have conversations with them as well.
