The Top 5 Foods Zapping Your Energy

Watch Greg and Audra weekdays at 9 a.m. on Carolina AM

If you’re feeling sluggish, it might be something you ate.  A group of dieticians were asked to name foods that can zap your energy.  The top five energy zappers are coffee, energy drinks, candy, smoothies, some frozen meals.  Too much caffeine can lead to a crash about five hours later.  If you load up on coffee in the morning, you might feel wiped out later in the day.  Too much of it late in the day can also mess with your sleep.   Make sure you get the right balance.  Candy gives a boost of energy for a while, but then you crash.   It’s the same with certain smoothies because the liquefied sugar gets into your bloodstream faster. Finally, low-calorie frozen meals.  Some of them have 300 calories or less, which may be enough of what you need for fuel.
