Governor Henry McMaster Announced PGA Tour Event Coming To Ridgeland

Governor Henry McMaster announced this morning that a PGA tour FedEx Cup Golf Tournament will be held in South Carolina this summer. The inaugural Palmetto Championship at Congaree will happen on June 7th through the 13th at Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland. The tour stop will replace the 2021 RBC Canadian open which was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. McMaster was joined by South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director Duane Parrish. Parrish stated that according to 2019 statistics, golf generated around $ 2.6 billion in the state. McMaster says the tournament will be a way to show the state’s best qualities and help small businesses. According to officials, the state has invested $6 million for the 2021 Palmetto Championship.
