Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Evacuated During Investigation This Morning
This morning, the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport was evacuated. Around 1:10 a.m. Broward Sheriff’s Office Deputies at the airport received information about suspicious wires found in a vehicle parked on the upper level of the airport. Deputies shut down traffic into and out of the airport, while it was evacuated and planes full of passengers were delayed on the runway. Shortly after 7 a.m. the bomb squad determined the wires were not a treat and gave the airport the ‘ok’ to open back up. According to the airport’s Twitter page, the ‘security incident’ occurred outside of terminals 2 and 3. Entrance roadways and operations were also temporarily closed. Those roadways have since been reopened and flights are returning to normal despite some delays.
