Minneapolis Firefighter Among Those Who Testified Yesterday During The Derek Chauvin Trial
Yesterday during day 2 of the Derek Chauvin trial, 6 witnesses took the stand. They included a 9 year old girl, three high school students, a mixed martial arts fighter and a Minneapolis firefighter. During cross-examination of the bystander witnesses, Chauvin’s Defense Attorney Eric Nelson tried to portray the crowd witnessing Floyd’s death as angry and interfering with police. At the end of the day, Genevieve Hansen, a firefighter who was off duty at the time of Floyd’s death testified that she was not allowed to give him aid. She said she had identified herself and moved in to help but Former Officer Tou Thao refused her access to treat Floyd. She testified that his refusal made her ‘totally distressed’ frustrated and feeling helpless. Her testimony will continue today.
