Biden Pushing for More Gun Control Calls for Urgent Action From Senate
After the shooting in Colorado, President Biden is pushing for more gun control. In his remarks about the rampage yesterday, President Biden jumped straight into the issue of gun control and called on Congress to pass legislation banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and to close loopholes in background checks. He also urged the Senate to approve two bills on federal gun laws that the House passed earlier this month. Biden said “I don’t need to wait another minute, let alone an hour, to take common-sense steps that will save lives in the future, and to urge my colleagues in the House and Senate to act.”He added “we can ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in this country once again. I got that done when I was a Senator. It passed. It was the law for the longest time. And it brought down these mass killings. We should do it again.” The Supreme Court Justices will meet behind closed doors on Friday and are scheduled to discuss whether to add the scope of the Second Amendment to the docket for next term.
