Severe Weather Alerts Issued for Parts of the South

A threat of tornadoes and severe weather has been issued for parts of the south. Powerful tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds are expected today and tonight. The risk level has raised to a 5 out of 5… The level hasn’t been that high since May of 2019 when the central plains were hit with dozens of tornadoes. Tornado watches are in effect until 2 p.m. in parts of Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee with damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph expected and large hail possible.The National Weather Service says the storm could be a life threatening event. So far, the Alabama Governor, Kay Ivy issued a state of emergency ahead of the storm out of an abundance of caution.
