Female promoted to captain of North Myrtle Beach police for the first time in 20 years
For the first time in 20 years, the North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety has promoted a female to the rank of captain. Captain Dana Crowell is in her 19th year as a law enforcement professional with the department. She began her career in 2002 in Uniform Patrol and spent time as a Field Training Officer and K9 Handler before transferring to the Criminal Investigation Unit in 2011. She rose to the rank of Sergeant and was promoted to Lieutenant in 2015 when she supervised many divisions.
