Foods to Eat When You’re Stressed
When we stress, we often eat. That’s because the stress response produces a chemical that makes us crave usually junk food and if we are not armed with alternatives…we tend to bend to the pressure and craving. Whole grains are good carbs that temporarily increase levels of serotonin, a hormone that boost mood and reduces stress. Limit simple carbs like cookies, cake and white foods. For a double boost add avocados to your whole grain. They also boost concentration and mood. They are a good source of omega-3s, phytochemicals, and fiber. Dark chocolate reduces stress in two way via its chemical and emotional impact. Choose one that doesn’t have added sugar.
