NASA’S Rover Sends Back First Images, Videos, Sounds From Mars
The first video footage, photos and even sounds from NASA’s Mars rover Perseverance have been released! The over one metric ton piece of machinery landed last week, but we had to wait for photos to be sent back to Earth via satellite in order to gain access to what information the rover is receiving. Now we have access to the over 7-minute video of the rover making what’s being considered the trickiest landing maneuver ever attempted in NASA’s history. We’ve also seen the first few photos from the rover’s first day. As for audio, all that’s been recorded so far is the muffled sounds wind blowing through the Jezero Crater which is near where the rover landed. The new images and audio are reportedly some of the most sophisticated ever captured on the surface of the red planet. The sound of wind is also the first sound ever recorded on Mars. The rover will continue to send these audio and visual elements back to NASA as the mission to find possible evidence of former life on Mars continues.
