Retiring HGTC President To Take On Acting President Role At FDTC

The FDTC Area Commission unanimously approved her appointment in early July and she will officially begin on July 31.

The Horry Georgetown Technical College president Dr. Marilyn Fore who’s retiring from that position is taking on another role.

Dr. Fore has been named acting president of Florence-Darlington Technical College. The FDTC Area Commission unanimously approved her appointment earlier this month and she will officially begin her new role on July 31.

Fore spent 51 years at HGTC, including serving as president since 2016. FDTC officials said Fore brings her over five-decades of higher education leadership experience and praised her commitment to student success and workforce development.

Fore’s appointment also carries personal significance. It comes as her late husband, Dr. Fred Fore, was the college’s first president.
