South Carolina Tourism Projected to Pick Up in the Fall

South Carolina’s tourism industry is expected to begin picking up in the fall. South Carolina Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director Duane Parrish confirmed the news yesterday, adding that “right now we are five times the unemployment of any industry in our state, the lowest to recover by far.” While this may come as a disappointment to tourism and hospitality workers who were hoping for things to pick up in the summer, it’s still good news for our slowly recovering economy. Once business finally starts back up again, local leaders, especially in the Myrtle Beach area, predict it will take two years to fully recover from the effects of the pandemic.
