Massive Snow Storm Leads to Deaths of at Least 7 People
At least seven people have died as a major nor’easter continues to bury millions of Americans. In Pennsylvania, a married couple was fatally shot by their neighbor after a dispute over snow removal. The neighbor was then also found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A 67-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s also died from hypothermia after she wandered out of her home. Two more women died in separate car crash-related incidents. A 64-year-old Maryland man also died after the recycling truck he was riding on overturned on an icy road around noon yesterday. More than 2 feet of snow has been forecasted to cover Pennsylvania into the New England area through today. Snowfall rates are reaching upwards of three inches an hour and wind gusts are peaking at 60 mph. The National Weather Service has warned travel conditions will be “difficult to impossible” across the region. Over 900 vehicle accidents have occurred, hundreds of flights have been grounded, trains halted, schools shut down and more.
