Dogs May Recognize Language at Same Rate as Toddlers

Be careful what you say around your dog.  They might understand more than you think.  Researchers analyzed how fast dogs can learn new words and found some can learn words after hearing them only four times, which is roughly the same speed as a two-year-old.  The team notes only a few of pooches can do this without extensive training.  The most gifted breeds appeared to be Border Collies, Poodles, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, and Labrador Retrievers.
