President Biden Gearing Up for More Executive Actions This Week

President Biden is gearing up for a week of executive actions. He’s set to address commerce, climate concerns, health care, immigration and other top-line issues. Among them, Biden is expected to repeal former President Trump’s ban on transgender people serving in the military as early as today. Also today, he’s due to reinstate covid-19 travel restrictions on non-U.S. citizens who have been in Brazil, Ireland, the UK and some parts of Europe.
The President signed an executive order last Thursday mandating interstate travelers wear a mask, and on his first day in office, he challenged Americans to wear them for 100 days. Federal transportation officials are now considering options to enforce his new requirement for interstate travelers, including the possibility of fines. FAA administrator Steve Dickson recently sign an order directing FAA officials to crack down on passengers who do not follow flight attendant instructions and are disruptive, including not abiding by an airline’s rule to wear a face covering. The agency noted it can fine passengers as much as $35,000 for some violations.
