Officer-Involved Shooting in Robeson County Leaves One Suspect Dead

A suspect from a deadly officer-involved shooting over the weekend in Robeson County has been named. In Pembroke on Saturday evening, officers responded to Janice Drive where 46-year-old Matthew Oxendine backed into a second car on a drive way and set fire to the headliner. Oxendine then threatened deputies with a gun. When SWAT was called in to assist, Oxendine allegedly pointed his weapon at them. He was shot and killed as a result. Records show he previously served three years for assaulting a law enforcement officer with a gun in 2009. The incident is now under investigation.
