President Trump Banned, Restricted From Social Media Sites
President Trump was banned or restricted on numerous social media platforms this weekend following the insurrection on Capitol Hill. Twitter was the first to announce it’s permanent ban of the president Friday evening, citing fear of further incitement of violence which is in violation of their rules. More sites followed with varying restrictions, including Reddit, Twitch, Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat, TikTok, Apple, Pinterest and more. In response, millions of conservatives left Twitter and Facebook, in solidarity with President Trump, for a rising app called Parlor. However, major companies are now also suspending that app from their services, claiming it does nothing to moderate “threats of violence and illegal activity.” Those who have taken Parlor off their sites and stores include Google, Apple, and finally Amazon, effectively shutting the app and website down. As of last night, Parlor has gone dark. They hope to be back online ‘as soon as possible.’
