Second Lawsuit Brought Against HCS for Potential Toxic Mold Cover Up
A second lawsuit has been filed against Horry County Schools in regards to a potential toxic mold cover up. The first lawsuit accused St. James Elementary School of neglect after a student was exposed and became ill from the toxic mold. This new legal action now claims more students and even teachers were affected by the mold and developed chronic illnesses as a result. It was filed by former instructor Mary Burroughs who worked there between 2016-2019. She stated the school knew about the issues for years, did not properly remove it, and “intentionally and maliciously covered” it up.
