Trump Asks Georgia Secretary of State to Find More Votes Overturning Election

Trump Call

During an hour-long recorded phone call, President Trump asked Georgia’s Secretary of State to find enough votes to overturn the election. The president also revisited a series of debunked conspiracy theories that may have attributed to his loss. He further suggested Brad Raffensperger, who is a Republican, could face criminal consequences if he refused to intervene on his behalf. The Secretary of State and his office’s general counsel both pushed back on the demand, maintaining their multiple recounts favoring President-elect Biden were accurate, honest and legal. The recordings, which were released over the weekend, already has some members of Congress calling for an investigation into possible election intimidation. A pair of Democrats have already requested FBI Director Christopher Wray look into the call. On Wednesday, the House and Senate are expected to meet to certify the Electoral College votes. Despite a dozen Republican senators announcing their intentions to vote against the Electoral College votes, they will ultimately not be able to overturn Biden’s win.
