Governor McMaster was potentially exposed to the coronavirus after his wife, First Lady Peggy McMaster, tested positive last week. It’s unclear at this time exactly how or when she contracted Covid-19, but upon hearing the news the governor implemented CDC precautions which includes taking a routine test, quarantining, and sending any staff home to quarantine and get tested as well. It was late last night when McMaster was notified about his positive test result. On recommendations from doctors, he was administered the Monoclonal Antibody treatment today. While Peggy has so far been asymptomatic, the governor is believe to be experiencing mild symptoms such as a cough and slight fatigue. He will enter into isolation for the next ten days and continue to be monitored by health professionals. McMaster urged South Carolina residents to be extra cautious this Christmas, noting how easily the disease spreads. Despite this solemn news, the governor and his wife remain to be in good spirits with McMaster keeping up with work from the Governor’s Residence.
