4-Year-Old Girl Killed, 15 Others Displaced After Apartment Complex Fire

SLED is investigating after a large apartment fire in Clinton claimed the life of a 4-year-old girl yesterday. Emergency response crews responded to the Laudau Apartments on South Broad Street around 5:45 a.m. Firefighters were unable to get to the second floor of the 8-unit complex where a person was trapped because conditions were so dangerous. Officials later discovered the girl’s body inside. 15 other people were displaced by the incident. The Red Cross and the apartment facility are currently working to relocate them. They’re also accepting drop-off donations in the form of clothing, toys and other goods at the Waffle House on South Broad Street in Clinton.
