FDA Advisory Committee Recommends Emergency Use for Moderna Vaccine

An FDA advisory committee has officially recommended emergency use authorization for the Moderna coronavirus vaccine yesterday. Within days of approval, 6 million doses could be immediately shipped out across the country. This news all comes as the U.S. surpassed 17 million infections and over 311,000 deaths. Yesterday once again marked another record-breaking day for new daily cases and deaths. The nation’s positivity rate is exceeding 11% with reports that southern California is quickly becoming one of the most hard-hit areas, according to Johns Hopkins University. Earlier today Vice President Mike Pence received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine during a live television event. He was joined by his wife and the U.S. surgeon general. President-elect Joe Biden will also publicly take the vaccine next week with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris also expected to be inoculated sometime soon. President Trump will not be administered a shot until his white house medical staff has recommended it. It’s believed the president is still benefiting from the the monoclonal antibody cocktail given to him after his Covid diagnosis in October.
