Loris Nursing Home Faces Negligent Death Lawsuit
A Loris nursing home is now facing a negligent death lawsuit after a resident contracted Covid-19. The Loris Rehab and Nursing Center is accused of negligence following the passing of 80-year-old Eartha Wells in May. The file alleges the facility failed to institute measures to stop spread of the disease which includes staff working without protective equipment, failing to implement CDC safety precautions, and allowing for potentially infected staff to work. It also claims the nursing home’s negligence “lead to facility-wide illness and multiple resident deaths.” Similar situations have reportedly occurred in other nursing homes across South Carolina.
