President Trump Looking to Overturn Election Results in New Lawsuit

According to a recent tally, all 50 states and the District of Columbia have certified their election results ahead of Monday’s Electoral College vote. As stated in the Constitution, the Electoral College must cast their votes “the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December”. But states are allowed to confirm results 6 days prior to that vote on what’s known as Safe Harbor day. It’s reported West Virginia became the final state to announce certification yesterday by awarding their 5 votes to President Trump. However, President-elect Joe Biden remains to be the projected winner with 306 electoral votes, to the president’s 232. The next steps in the process include the official vote this Monday followed by a joint session of Congress on January 6th. President Trump has promised to contest the results up until that point and he’s made good on that promise. His most recent effort to overturn results includes a request to the Supreme Court to block millions of votes from battleground states by claiming they were made unconstitutionally.
