Myrtle Beach City Council Approves Sale of Campground Property

The sale of a Myrtle Beach campground has gone through despite its controversial nature. The Myrtle Beach City Council voted in favor of selling the nearly 145 acres of land on the Grand Strand. The property, which includes the Lakewood Camping Resort and Pirateland Family Camping Resort, generated millions of dollars each year for the Myrtle Beach International Airport. The agreed sale price is reportedly $60 million. Horry County is attempting to impede proceedings by threatening a lawsuit.
