Boeing’s 737 MAX Aircraft Resumes Public Flights After Two Fatal Crashes
Boeing’s 737 MAX has completed its first public flight since being grounded over 2 fatal plane crashes. In late 2018, 189 people were killed after a flight out of Indonesia crashed. Four months later, an Ethiopian airlines flight also crashed and killed an additional 157 people. It forced the Federal Aviation Administration to ground the planes across the globe in March of 2019 as a full investigation into the fatal incidents were conducted. During that time, Boeing rewrote the entire MAX flight computer software. Almost two years later, the plane is now back in the sky. It took off with passengers from Miami and landed in New York City without incident. American is the only U.S. based company that will resume the MAX flights starting December 29th. United and Southwest Airlines will follow in 2021. Despite this, winning the public’s trust will prove to be a difficult task. Loved ones who lost people in the crashes are still urging people to avoid flying on these planes.
