State Superintendent Suggests Florence Consolidate School Districts

Florence County leaders are considering consolidating their school districts. The idea was initially proposed by South Carolina Superintendent Molly Spearman. Due to a low number of students, Timmonsville High School has faced chronic financial instability. She suggested the consolidation of Florence School District Four could help the problem. The proposed idea would likely mean the closure of the high school. Spearman further suggested all five of the Florence districts consider merging.
