Authorities in Virginia Recover 27 Missing Children Over Weekend
A rescue mission conducted by deputy U.S. Marshals led to the recovery of 27 missing children in Virginia over the weekend. “Operation Find Our Children” was a collaboration with the agency’s fugitive task force, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and state and local agencies. Along with the 27 children found safe, they also located six other children who were reported missing but were found in the custody of their legal guardians. The majority of the recoveries occurred in large population centers, with seven occurring in less populous regions. In a news release, the Department of Justice promised continued dedication to “protecting the most vulnerable children in our society.” They added, “While this Virginia operation is the most recent recovery of endangered and missing children led by the U.S. Marshals service this year, we have also recovered more than 440 kids in Georgia, Ohio, Indiana, Louisiana and other states.”
