Judge Rules SC Ballots Can’t be Rejected Over Mismatched Signatures

A South Carolina federal judge has ruled a ballot cannot be rejected over signature issues. By state law, local election boards cannot reject voters’ ballots due to mismatched signatures. The judge also ordered for the review and reprocess of all previously rejected ballots for this reason. This follows a survey done of all 46 counties that found a handful of boards were signature matching without the knowledge or authority of the state election commission. As of yesterday afternoon, 354,000 absentee ballots had been received statewide.
