Covid-19 on the Rise in Almost Every States as U.S. Surpasses 8 Million Cases

More than 8 million Americans have tested positive for the coronavirus with around 220,000 fatalities. The U.S. is still the world leader in not only cases but also deaths. Now almost every state is again seeing dangerous spikes in new cases with an average of 55,000 daily reports. 10 states recorded their highest single-day case counts on Friday. Only Texas, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands have seen decreases over the last two weeks. Health experts are bracing themselves for the oncoming and inevitable third peak, pleading with citizens to follow safety recommendations. Worldwide, there have been over 40 million confirmed cases and over one million deaths. As if things weren’t grim enough, we’re also learning of disappointing news on the treatment front. The World Health Organization concluded the experimental drug Remdesivir has little to no effect on the recovery of hospitalized patients. Another U.S. based pharmaceutical company is also now facing a lawsuit and federal investigation for allegedly exaggerating its involvement in Operation Warp Speed.
