Missing University of South Carolina Student Died From Blunt Force Trauma to Head, Body
The body found at the Vulcan Quarry in Columbia this weekend has been identified as the missing University of South Carolina student. 19-year-old Sam Laundon was last seen Saturday morning after he and some friends got lost near the Olympia-Granby area. He hopped a fence and never climbed back over. A body was then recovered Sunday matching Laundon’s description. A coroner’s office confirmed his identity, adding his official cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and body. Following this news, the university has offered counseling services to any students who may need it.
