Three Killed, One Injured in Partial Building Collapse at Construction Site

At least three people were killed and one injured following a partial building collapse at a Houston construction site. The collapse occurred in a recently constructed and unstable stairwell near the 13th and 14th floor of the building early yesterday afternoon. The debris reportedly fell all the way to the ground floor, claiming the lives of three workers and injuring a fourth. He is now hospitalized and in stable condition. Fortunately the rest of the building remained standing and the near 240 other workers on site at the time have been accounted for. The building is set to become the new headquarters for a company named Marathon Oil. They have already issued a statement saying, “We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of those contractors who were affected and thank the first responders. We have offered our assistance to the building contractors as they respond to this accident.” It’s believed the collapse area is still not entirely safe.
