Texas Officer Charged With Murder After Fatal Shooting of Jonathan Price

A Texas police officer has been charged following the fatal shooting of a black man this weekend. On Saturday evening, Officer Shaun Lucas was responding to the scene of a gas station for a possible fight in progress. 31-year-old Jonathan Price had broken up the dispute between an aggressive man and a woman before authorities arrived. It’s unclear why, but Lucas still attempted to arrest Price who resisted by walking away in a non-threatening manner. Lucas then used his taser and fired his weapon, hitting Price who was unarmed. He died later in the hospital. The entire incident was caught on security camera footage and the Texas Department of Public Safety determined Officer Lucas’ actions were not “objectionably reasonable.” He was arrested and charged with murder yesterday with his bond posted at $1 million. As of now, Lucas is on leave from the Wolfe City Police Department as a full investigation is conducted.
