Hazardous Material Spill Occurs at Pawleys Island Gas Station

Pawleys Island residents beware after reports of a hazardous material spill along Highway 17 and South Causeway Road. Midway Fire Rescue initially responded to the scene yesterday afternoon at the HotSpot gas station after a tanker truck spilled approximately 400 gallons of gasoline. Fortunately no injuries occurred. The spill is now under control and clean up has begun. The public has been asked to avoid the area where a 2,000 foot perimeter has been requested.
